Inspiration

As a freelancer I've always got 100% of my clients from referalls, never spent a dime on marketing. As I dont need a website full of fluff and SEO keywords, I realized all I need is a place for people to see my work and hear what other people think of my work.

What it does

Their Word gives you a link you can send people to submit a review, when they do so they have the option to add their email and agree to become an Ambassador for you. If they do you can enable a button on their review where someone can anonymously send them a message asking for a reference. They can then reply using an anonymous form powered by Their Word. Users can also attach images to their testimonials linking a portfolio with the review building trust in your work.

How we built it

after crafting a plan using AI for our main feature set we used bolt to setup a framework for an MVP , a simple review system, we then built up our feature set one by one with Bolt and supabase

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part of the setup was getting the email to work consistantly

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Innovative Ambassador Program: We've implemented a unique "Ambassador Program" that allows clients to provide verified references to potential new clients without directly sharing their contact information.

Dynamic Public Pages & Embeddable Widgets: Freelancers can create fully customizable public testimonial pages with various layouts (grid, list, masonry, stacked cards) and themes. Additionally, embeddable widgets allow them to seamlessly integrate their testimonials onto any website.

Rich Portfolio Integration: The ability to attach visual portfolio items directly to testimonials transforms static feedback into dynamic, interactive case studies, allowing freelancers to showcase their work effectively.

What we learned

We learned that the biggest plus for Bolt over other solutions we use on a daily basis that might be cheaper than using bolt is that Bolts biggest strenth is in its API connections and its tight integration with Supabase etc.

What's next for Their Word

First we will be integrating stripe and having our portfolio setup and premium themes attached to the premium account. then we will be adding a whitelabling solution to allow you to use your front facing portfolio/testimonial page at your own URL.

If....errrrr When we win a hackathon prize :) we will be using that money to look at some specific industries such as restuarants, lawfirms etc and specific needs of those industries outside of just freelancers. We think there really is something to the verified reviews in a world of bot reviews etc, being able to actually talk to the review writer could be a game changer, we are thinking reward systems, phone app push notification live chat review responses, we would LOVE to financially have the availibility to make Their Word a verified 3rd party partner review system for large online retailers
