Inspiration

Myself and many others I know used to be very active before COVID-19 hit, many outdoor group practices and activities have been cancelled and the motivation to even just move has been an all-time low. I know that being sedentary and looking at the monitor all day for classes is extremely unhealthy for the body. But the will to just get up of our chairs could be even harder than we can imagine sometimes. We no longer have the luxury to walk to our different classes that feels like miles away or go out during lunch breaks as we did prior to the pandemic. So it is very important to keep ourselves in check every day to make sure we are still active and moving about during these times.

I created Nature and the Sun in hopes to make exercising and moving more fun, it is something to look forward to doing with your friends and allows you all to keep each other in check if we are slacking that day! You can be healthy and treat your body well while growing a cute virtual mini garden with your friends! Nothing is more important than the health and well being of those around me. Even after the pandemic this would still be a good motivating, health tracking, fun virtual gardening little app!

What it does

Nature and the Sun allows you to set a daily goal where you will earn petals upon completion. With the petals earned you can purchase plants from the shop. You can also complete challenges that will be set by us and your friends and receive cute exotic plants which you can use for decorating your garden! Connect with your friends to check out their garden and activities and leave some encouraging words/message. You will get a fresh new garden every month or when your garden is full for you to look back on!

How we built it

I designed Nature and the Sun through Figma with plugins such as Unsplash, Arc, Vectary 3d. I also used open-source materials from the Figma community for certain components in the project! And I prototyped everything in the end for the video.

Challenges we ran into

It's my first time prototyping so I got a little confused at first but was able to figure it out fairly quickly through online resources. Time was also a challenge since there is so much more I would like to implement with more time!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm happy in general that I was able to participate in my first Hackathon at SacHacks and complete this project! Thank you so much for this opportunity!

What we learned

More UX/UI knowledge, prototyping, using Vectary3D!

What's next for Nature and the Sun

So much more features like hovering over plants to see what you've accomplished, stats review, training insights, connecting with the community in your area, more challenges with friends, viewing different gardens through different months and seeing your progress, sharing your achievements and of course a lot more new and beautiful plans!
