Inspiration
With climate change becoming a bigger problem, we wanted to figure out which industries and countries are actually contributing to the climate crisis, and see what trends we can find in the data to help us understand the climate crisis better.
What it does
We have made visualizations and models using R and Python to display trends based on regions and industries to determine problem areas to combat the climate crisis.
Challenges we ran into
As first-time hackers, we ran into many obstacles trying to make useful models and visualizations to find trends that give us actionable information on the climate crisis. The biggest obstacle was making our visualizations look presentable and easy to understand. A lot of research and trial and error were used to find the best ways to model the trends in the most presentable fashion.
What we learned
We all had different strengths as one of us is proficient in R and the other is proficient in Python. We had to split up and use our different strengths to model trends in the dataset. We also learned a lot about the climate crisis as these trends brought us insight into what actually contributes to the increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
