NASAL RESPIRATOR
Inspiration : The present COVID PANDEMIC
It's a raw idea.Where I aspire to make a small porous nasal cap of three layers that would be easily attachable to the nostrils and prevent the entry of germs and pathogens effectively.
Once the vaccine of COVID is developed people will certainly stop using the face masks and that would become rudimentary no sooner. People these days aspire more for looks rather than their own safety. Or as they Say "Beauty is pain". Generally the face masks we wear are made up of three protective medical approved layers and three to four cloth layers including cotton as a layer.
Components We Plan to Use
What we Ideated is making a nasal clip of 4 layers:-
(a)spun bound polypropylene(used in N95 filter).
(b)melt blown polypropylene(used in N95 filter).
(c)bacterial filter (used in labs whin is very thin).
(d)spun bound polypropylene(used in N95 filter).
The above mentioned are used in face masks while Bacterial Filter use is my HACK.
Detailed Explanation Of Project Idea
'''These layers would be compressed and sandwiched to form a single layer of cloth as thick as a fingernail. Then we can use bio adhesives like Skin Tite which is used in costume prosthetics as a temporary sticking agent.Once used the bio adhesive has a durability of nearly 18-19 hours. That's approximately average time a man stays outdoors.Once he is home he could easily remove it and dispose it.''' It's application is very much similar to wearing a lens and would soon become in habit of people as I and my team envision it.
So just as a precaution we could use these nasal respirators to be safe in future and to prevent the spread of any other such virus that affects mostly through the respiratory tract. The most important merit would be that even if the vaccine is not developed so soon people can stop wearing face masks and move in convenience and fashion while going to work or schools.
Use Of Technology and Feasibility
Going To the Implication of IOT when guided we would develop an App that would monitor when to use and which way to use the Nasal Respirator. Maybe in future when nanotechnology is well developed we could add an extra layer to the respirator to monitor any abnormalities in breath rate and notify the nearest hospital for assistance.
Now basically we are trying to make a project that is entirely for the public and has to be sold.
So it is necessary to consider approximate cost of our Nasal Respirator and its feasibility. The MRP of the Bio-Adhesive is around Rs.200 for 100gm but we would be using much less than a mg so it would cost almost nothing. The spun bound polypropylene & melt blown polypropylene cost around Rs.86 and the cost of the bacterial filter is around Rs.100 so we would be making a pair of nasal respirator in less than $1.75 { All is a Rough Approximate}
What's next for Nasal Respirator
If we get recognized in this hackathon we will start developing the prototype as soon as possible because it can potentially help people a lot not only in the remaining duration of the COVID but also to prevent Such future pandemics related to respiratory tract and finally take steps to learn and develop the app to monitor the use of the respirator.
Future Plans
Taking help from people who can help us in prototyping and preparing a community feasible innovation. Maybe in future they will become as common as eye lens and part of our daily life and help in monitoring our health as well. NOT ONLY COVID but such repiratory infections in future can be tackled easily.
