Beginner category: This is our first Hack-a-thon.

Inspiration

We were inspired by classic arcade games like Galaga and Space Invaders. We like the style of the games, but we wanted to give it a 3D twist. Along with that, we wanted to present the classic game with a modern theme, NASA.

What it does

The game allows the player to step into the driver's seat and fly a NASA space shuttle and shoot lasers at alien UFO's

How I built it

We built the game using Unreal Engine 4 and the website using Brackets.

Challenges I ran into

We ran into challenges with the camera angles for the UE4 game.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of our usage of textures and shaders in the UE4 game to give the game a stylish and unique space feel.

What I learned

We learned how to integrate our CSS files with our HTML files and use videos and pictures with HTML. Further, we learned how to use enemy AI in UE4 and how to texture objects.

What's next for NASA vs Aliens: Driver's Seat

To continue developing this game, we would have more game levels with power-ups and more challenging AI.
