Inspiration

When a NAS becomes slow or unavailable, users often cannot identify where the problem originates. Is it their internet provider, local network, NAS software, physical storage, or an external server?

UGREEN NAS Doctor aims to remove that uncertainty.

What it does

UGREEN NAS Doctor is an evidence-based troubleshooting Skill that distinguishes five possible sources of failure:

  1. Internet connectivity and ISP issues
  2. Local network and NAS connection problems
  3. NAS operating system and application services
  4. Hardware and storage failures
  5. External hosting and cloud service outages

It guides users through safe diagnostic steps, consults official documentation when available, and explains which conclusions are supported by evidence.

How we built it

We designed an orchestration Skill using Uliya's published capability catalog, registered expert delegation, Markdown references, and a structured diagnostic decision tree.

The Skill uses official knowledge and authorized filesystem capabilities. It was checked using the official Uliya static validator.

Challenges and lessons

The main challenge was separating different failure domains without assuming access to unavailable hardware telemetry. We designed explicit evidence requirements and uncertainty handling rather than inventing device measurements.

Current status

This is a Round 1 prototype specification. The Skill passed static validation with zero errors and zero warnings but has not yet been tested on physical UGREEN NAS hardware. Runtime validation is planned if selected for the next round.
