Women earn 70% of bachelor of fine arts and 65–75% of master of fine arts degrees in the U.S., though only 46% of working artists (across all arts disciplines) are women (Medium, 2024). We believe the underrepresented artists are strongly associated with self-doubt, lack of inspiration, and fear of judge. NarrArtive provides a platform for underrepresented artists to have freedom of artistic expression.
Therefore, we formulate a problem statement: How might we provide a platform that inspires creativity and promotes representation for underrepresented artists? This app essentially provide a platform for artists to showcase artwork with anonymity, with less anxiety and doubt when posting. Also, Augmented Reality technology that can be interacted with using a smartphone or AR glasses, removing barriers to location and physical accessibility and increasing authenticity for viewers.
Based on the user research, 87.2% of participants agree they would purchase art online. In order for artists to not only gain recognition but also monetize their art representation. Therefore, We incorporated a marketplace for artists to sell their work.
Our product is to encourage and amplify the positive environment in the creative sector. People with limited resources and access want to explore their creative expression as well. Gaining recognition and have a sense of community strengthens the freedom of expression.
