The lack of isolation in front-lines of the fight against the COVID-19 put the medical personnel under the infection risk. There are many cases that medical staff infected with the COVID-19, even with protective pieces of equipment such as masks, face shields, and exclusive clothes. The ICUs are also highly dangerous areas, and access to these would burden the risk of infection to the doctors, residences, and other medical staff. Unfortunately, the therapeutic activity inside the hospitals is not automated, and so far, all these efforts are done by a human factor. A solution that automates the Hygiene of the indoor environment (such as hospitals, public places, public transportation, and so on) is missing, and there is a gap between the required Hygiene standard and current protocols of Hygiene for the indoor environment. An autonomous application that is intelligent in filling this gap would preserve the lives and also diminish the cost and time of the Hygiene operation.

The following youtube movie presents how the crew manually uses the AMBustat inside an ambulance. With the COVID-19 case, we need the robotic automatization to be used along with the disinfection and prevent the infection of medical staff. Also, to our best knowledge, for the COVID-19 case in highly affected areas, we need a combination of techniques to perform efficient disinfection. This is where the Nanoscience would help us to make sure there will not be a chance of infection after the disinfection process. #EUvsVirus #NanoHygiene

President Donald J. Trump met with NASA leadership on April 24 to review the incredible ways NASA has answered the President’s call for a whole-of-Government response to combating COVID-19. The NanoHygiene team provided an effective disinfection solution based on Nanoscience and robotic automation, especially for the highly affected areas such as ICUs. In addition to the hospitals, our solution can be used for maintaining hygiene protocol in public places such as schools.

We started the discussion about the safety and security of the NanoHygiene. Our proposal is based on advanced research in cyber-physical system security and provides strong measures in critical applications, where the human can not enter or is hard to access.
