Inspiration
Kerala’s unique blend of nature, culture, and traditional food craftsmanship has always inspired me as a visual storyteller. I wanted to explore how modern AI tools can recreate that atmosphere through a fully original brand concept. This led to the creation of “Nano Banana Chips”, a fictional banana-chips brand designed purely for creative exploration and for the Chroma Awards spec-ad category.
What it does
This AI-generated short ad blends Kerala’s natural beauty with handcrafted food traditions. It highlights: • The warm, nostalgic feel of Kerala’s forests • The cultural significance of banana chips • Eco-friendly, minimal packaging • A cinematic, modern brand identity All visual, audio, and narrative elements are generated or designed by me using multiple AI tools.
How we built it
I combined several AI and design tools to craft a seamless visual experience: • Gemini 2.5 Flash / Nano Banana – concept art & image generation • Google Veo 3 – video generation • Producer AI – background music and audio design • Adobe Photoshop – cleanup, enhancement, and packaging visual refinement • Adobe Premiere Pro – final edit, color, pacing, and sound mix Each shot was planned based on Kerala’s cultural tones, lighting, and textures to create a cinematic flow within 16 seconds.
Challenges we ran into
• Achieving realistic Kerala-inspired textures using AI models • Matching shot continuity between generated scenes • Designing original packaging that feels authentic yet modern • Ensuring all assets are original and copyright-safe • Balancing cultural sensitivity with creative experimentation
Accomplishments that we're proud of
• Completed a polished 16-second spec ad fully built from original/AI-generated assets • Designed an original brand identity + packaging • Achieved a cinematic mood that feels both traditional and futuristic • Delivered a project that fits all Chroma Awards guidelines
What we learned
Even without investing large amounts in equipment, shooting, or crew, AI tools now allow creators to produce high-quality commercial-style videos in a short time. The workflow is much faster, more flexible, and more experimental.
What's next for Nano Banana Chips – AI-Generated Spec Ad
• Expanding the concept into a full product lineup with different flavors • Developing alternate ad versions in 9:16 format for social media • Creating a branding kit including posters, packaging variations, and mascot designs • Exploring how AI can help build an entire fictional brand ecosystem
