This project began with my love for Kauai, its lush landscapes, golden sunsets, and relaxed rhythm of life. I wanted to capture that spirit not only in the music but also in the visuals. The song features a Hawaiian steel guitar that gives it a distinctive island tone, and from the start I wanted the video to carry that same feeling with a natural Hawaiian atmosphere.
The video was built around continuity and mood. We used the same two characters throughout the scenes to create an emotional through-line, and we placed them inside environments that reflect real Hawaii, such as coastal roads framed by palm trees and warm light. One key moment in the video shows the word “Killer” turning into “Kinder” after the couple drives past a billboard. This transition was designed to feel grounded and believable, with real vegetation moving in front of the sign and revealing the softened message.
Working on this project taught me how closely music and visuals can inform each other. Matching the pacing of the track with the natural flow of Hawaiian scenery required careful attention to light, timing, and camera movement. In the process, I learned how authentic emotion and sense of place can come together to create a unified cinematic language.
