About the Project Inspiration

The project draws its essence from the conceptual universe of Joshi Riot (joshiriot.com ), where feminism, music, and resistance to brainrot blend into a poetic, cinematic vision. It’s deeply influenced by Japanese anime aesthetics, combining surreal dreamscapes, choreographed movements, and powerful female symbolism.

What it does

This is Joshi Riot’s first anime music video, kicking off a new narrative arc in which the trio fights against “brainrot” — a metaphor for toxic screen behaviors and harmful digital content.

It’s also a presentation of the group’s identity: mystical, rebellious, and unapologetically feminist.

Above all, it’s a music video built around the Japanese proverb “Nana korobi ya oki” (七転び八起き) — “Fall seven times, rise eight” — celebrating inner strength, resilience, and the courage to keep dreaming.

How I built it

This project was created entirely solo, with AI as a powerful creative partner.

Original music composition

Visual development and aesthetic research

Storyboarding and narrative design

Image generation and manual Photoshop corrections on almost every frame

Custom workflow for video generation and post-processing

Editing and final assembly

This hybrid process enabled full creative control and stylistic consistency, without a production team.

Challenges we ran into

Nearly impossible to generate complex scenes without breaking tools

Every image required manual correction, often full compositing by hand

Avoiding 3D-looking outputs, maintaining a 2D anime visual

Ensuring style coherence, consistent characters, outfits, environments, and lighting

Crafting a workflow tailored to visual complexity and narrative precision

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overcoming all technical and artistic challenges solo

Possibly the first fully AI-generated animated music video starring a consistent anime-style trio

Establishing a new workflow for artistic animation using AI as a controlled tool

Proving the viability of solo-driven, high-quality animated production

What we learned

I now know exactly how to use these tools to reach the intended result

Never give up — every obstacle is an opportunity to refine the vision and workflow

What's next for Nana Korobi Ya Oki – Joshi Riot AI Anime Music Video

Launching a crowdfunding campaign

Connecting with producers and broadcasters for both the anime version and a live-action concept

Expanding the Joshi Riot universe with more animated content, lore, and stories
