🏥 Namma Health – AI-Powered Smart Healthcare Platform

Healthcare should be proactive rather than reactive, yet many people still seek medical attention only after their condition becomes serious. We wanted to create a platform that empowers users to take charge of their health through AI-driven insights, preventive care, and quick access to emergency services.

Our inspiration was to combine modern AI technologies with real-world healthcare needs into a single, easy-to-use platform that can benefit people of all ages and eventually scale across India.

What it does

Namma Health is an AI-powered healthcare platform that brings together essential healthcare services into one application.

The platform enables users to:

  • 🤖 Analyze symptoms using Google Gemini AI
  • ❤️ Track health metrics through a personalized dashboard
  • 💊 Manage medications with reminders
  • 🍎 Monitor nutrition and wellness
  • 🏥 Find nearby hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies
  • 🚨 Access one-tap Emergency SOS services
  • 🌡️ View disease surveillance heatmaps
  • 📅 Manage healthcare consultations

Instead of relying on multiple apps, users can access all these services from one unified platform.

How we built it

We built the frontend using React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Vite to provide a modern, fast, and responsive user interface.

Our backend was developed with Node.js and Express.js, while Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore provide secure authentication and cloud-based data storage.

The project integrates several Google technologies:

  • Google Gemini API for AI-powered health assistance
  • Google Maps API for nearby healthcare discovery
  • Firebase Authentication for secure login
  • Cloud Firestore for real-time data storage
  • Firebase Hosting for deployment

These technologies work together to deliver a seamless healthcare experience.

Challenges we ran into

Developing a healthcare platform that integrates AI, mapping services, authentication, and cloud storage presented several technical challenges.

Some of the major challenges included:

  • Integrating multiple Google services into a single workflow.
  • Designing an intuitive interface while supporting many healthcare features.
  • Ensuring smooth communication between frontend and backend.
  • Managing authentication and cloud database synchronization.
  • Engineering prompts that produce meaningful AI-generated health guidance.

Each challenge improved both our technical skills and the overall user experience.
