Started as a simple project but grown into a full-blown solution. AI helped me build it quick.

Inspiration

The idea for "nam" came from my own frustration. I would spend hours searching for brandable business names with deep meaning, only to end up unsatisfied or stuck with unavailable domains. The process was slow, repetitive, and rarely delivered the results I wanted. So, I decided to build a tool that could solve this problem for myself and others facing the same challenge.

What it does

"nam" is an instant AI-powered business naming and domain finder web app. Users simply enter their business idea or description, and the app generates a list of creative, brandable names tailored to their input. For each suggestion, "nam" instantly checks domain availability across popular and industry-relevant extensions, making it easy to secure the perfect name and web address in minutes—no sign-up required.

How we built it

We built "nam" as a modern, mobile-friendly web app using a minimalist UI for speed and clarity. The core name generation is powered by the Gemini API, which analyzes user input and produces unique, meaningful names. Domain availability is checked in real-time using the WhoisJSON API, focusing first on the most relevant TLDs for each industry. We also implemented intelligent TLD suggestion logic and a feedback channel for users to share testimonials and feature requests.

Challenges we ran into

• API Performance: Ensuring fast name generation and domain checks required optimizing API calls and caching strategies.
• Input Validation: Preventing spam, gibberish, or abusive inputs without blocking genuine ideas was a delicate balance.
