🧠 Project Story: Know Your Food

🌱 About the Project

Know Your Food is a smart, sustainability-conscious food insight platform that helps users make informed choices about what they eat. It provides comprehensive nutritional details, sustainability metrics, healthier alternatives, and context-based suggestions—all in one quick search.

The idea was inspired by a simple yet frustrating question:
"I know this food is healthy, but is it really the best option for me—and the planet?"
We realized most food-related tools are either nutrition-focused or environmentally driven, but rarely both. We wanted to build something better: a holistic food companion that empowers users to eat smarter, not just for themselves, but for the world.

Ultimately, our mission is to help people nourish themselves—and nourish the world.

Frontend: Built using Vite + React for fast, modular development.
UI/UX: Prototyped using a no-code tool for rapid design iteration.
Search Intelligence: Integrated Sonar for semantic search and natural language understanding.
Data Layer: Nutritional facts, sustainability metrics, and contextual suggestions.
Recommendations Engine: Offers seasonal/local alternatives with better nutritional or environmental profiles.
