Problem

Students and educators find it difficult to debate around correctness of answers to past questions. There is a need to have an online community platform where discussion on questions and answers happen. This community approach, of managing past questions will disrupt the convectional way of educators doling out answers to students which hinder effective learning development process.

Solution

WHY (why is it important to solve this problem? Why are we solving it? Why is our solution needed?) Poor performance in major exams in Nigeria is evident, with only 49.8% having five credit passes in WAEC 2018. It is important we develop an application that drives knowledge sharing among students and educators. Open communication and transfer of knowledge is what we advocate for.

Furthermore, With the increase in internet penetration in Nigeria, students are already searching for alternative solutions to past questions. It’s good we positioning ourselves to organize this movement with our solution

Our team have experience with this sector, and believe that open communication will foster collaboration and bridge the gap between educators and students

WHAT (What are we doing to solve the problem? What does solving the problem involve) We developed a platform during NaijaHacks-2108 which works like StakOverflow.com . On our demo app, students can search for questions, flag wrong answers, discuss and vote the correct answer.

To implement this, we used an opensource API that gives access to Nigeria past questions. This questions serves as the base we built on.

HOW (How are we solving the problem ie what tech stack, tools, etc are we using) We used Laravel, MySQL, Bootstrap with hosting on Linode and domain name from get.Tech . Setting on Linode was technically challenging but also a rewarding experience.

NEEDS What do you need from TeamNaijaHacks TeamNaijaHacks and partners can help us get into students faces so as to foster richer engagement on our community solution to past questions.

WHAT NEXT Develop all the app features and conduct offline and online awareness campaign about the app to Nigeria students. Monetize through advert and sponsorship
