Inspiration
Here's a concise story of the project:
I was inspired by the idea of revolutionizing local service access across India by creating a platform that breaks language barriers and offers reliable, AI-powered solutions. I wanted every user—from urban families to rural communities—to feel the impact of modern technology in their daily lives.
Throughout the project, I learned a lot about building a scalable full-stack app. On the frontend, I enhanced my skills with React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS while working with Vite and Shadcn UI. The experience deepened my understanding of internationalization (i18n) as I integrated comprehensive Hindi and other Indian language support. On the backend, I honed my expertise in Node.js and Express, further exploring MongoDB with Mongoose, and implemented real-time communication using Socket.IO.
The development journey wasn't without its challenges. Creating a seamless user experience for both customers and workers, ensuring robust authentication with Google OAuth and DigiLocker, and integrating multiple APIs (like the Google Gemini API for AI capabilities) pushed me to think critically and design better architecture. Addressing the nuances of multilingual support—ensuring every piece of the UI was correctly translated—was particularly demanding but ultimately rewarding.
Overall, building Nagrik Sewa taught me valuable lessons in modern web development, user-centric design, and the power of a well-integrated technology stack to create meaningful impact.
