VolunteerQuest

Inspiration

Loneliness in Munich affects hundreds of thousands of people. It especially impacts vulnerable groups: young people, elderly, singles, and foreigners. From our experience, we noticed that volunteering helps build a sense of belonging more than any other activity. However, people aren't used to doing nonprofit work and don't know where to find information about it.

What it does?

VolunteerQuest creates a bridge between young people and various volunteer activities offered by organizations around them. We effectively target potential volunteers and use gamification, user-friendly design, and a reward system with certificates. We do all this to increase youth involvement in society and reduce feelings of loneliness.

How we built it?

We used Protopie to create the initial structure and basic TypeScript to implement the results. Design was done using Figma. Additional features and animations were added using Copilot.

Challenges we ran into?

We had trouble combining different parts of the app. Creating the user interface was difficult since we don't have designers on our team. We made several versions of the product, which changed it significantly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of?

We created a working, fully clickable app prototype within the given time. Since we all actively volunteer, we were very happy to create a solution to promote nonprofit work.
