Inspiration

An average women experiences about 400 periods in her lifetime. Feeling depressed before and during a menstrual period is common. Experts believe that these emotional changes occur as a result of fluctuating hormone levels. Most people who menstruate will experience some symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), including moodiness and headaches. And females know the mood swings and depressions they face during the menstrual cycle. As a girl, I wanted a one-stop platform where I could do all the things I please. So, we created this app.

What it does

  1. It has a music feature which allows you to tune into your favourite music
  2. You can workout right in front of your computer, to your convenience and cope up with the pain.
  3. Read and write blogs, helping other women to cope up with the pain.
  4. Send reminder messages to remind women to stock their sanitary pads and tampons.

How we built it

We built it using Node.js, Express.js. We used MongoDb for the backend. We used the Twilio API for communication. We used PoseNet to detect exercises and keep a track of the counts.

Challenges we ran into

The time duration was our major challenge. To build a full-stack application with a variety of features. We also faced difficulties while using PoseNet for the exercises feature.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

To build a full-stack application to help girls and ladies, during their menstrual cycle.

What we learned

To use PoseNet and integrate MongoDB to create a full-stack website.

What's next for Feminira

  1. Music suggestions based on emotions
  2. Add more exercise based on symptoms
  3. Add more features to blogs like commenting.
