The idea for this project started with my love for puzzle-based games. I wanted to create something truly engaging—something that would challenge players, keep them hooked, and leave a lasting impression. Initially, I designed puzzles that turned out to be incredibly difficult for some players, and I found myself constantly helping them out. That’s when the idea of integrating an AI companion came to me: a virtual friend to guide players through the challenges, just like a friend would.

The AI character was inspired by my own personality and interactions with friends—a mix of sass, humor, and occasional insults, but always endearing. I wanted it to feel real, like someone you’d want to banter with, and that personality naturally became the heart of the game. Over time, I crafted the story around the AI, embedding fragments of my life as hidden Easter eggs—dates, locations, and special moments that hold personal meaning to me. These small details added a layer of intimacy to the game for those curious enough to uncover them.

Initially, my vision was to create something complex, like an escape room or scavenger hunt. But the limitations of the Devvit platform forced me to rethink my approach. Instead of focusing on complexity, I leaned into a retro, old-school vibe. This nostalgic style not only allowed the game to run smoothly but also became its defining charm. It shifted the focus to clever, thought-provoking puzzles that stimulate creativity, encouraging players to use their brains—and sometimes their resources—without taxing the platform.

The simplicity of the design doesn’t make the game easy, though! The puzzles are challenging and require a mix of logic, wit, and perseverance, hooking players of all ages. Feedback from the community has been invaluable, helping me refine the gameplay and strike the right balance of difficulty. I wanted a game that feels rewarding, where solving each puzzle feels like an achievement.

But this project isn’t just about solving puzzles. It’s about connecting with the AI companion, unraveling the story, and immersing yourself in a world that blends nostalgia with modern design. It’s about moments of frustration that turn into triumph, and the thrill of discovering the deeper layers of the game.

With enough support and love from the community, we’ve already outlined future stages and plot twists. There’s so much more of the story waiting to be told, and I can’t wait to expand the game, add new challenges, and see where this journey takes us. This is just the beginning!
