Inspiration

The Payit™ team was inspired by a relentless focus on the customer journey and a firm grounding in the NatWest purpose of helping people, families and businesses to thrive. We found an opportunity to improve customer experience and help customers with characteristics of vulnerability in the context of online gaming, by affording an element of control of in-game spending.

What it does

Payit’s VRP solution allows individuals to pre-authorise future payments that adhere to their pre-agreed payment parameters. With our solution, the paying individual will be afforded greater control and safety, without compromising the gamer’s experience

How we built it

The delivery of our solution followed the agile framework. Working in a cross-functional team we first defined customer pain points before deciding on a problem to solve. The solution was developed in an iterative process and continual feedback was obtained in order to refine the solution and arrive at our final submission.

Challenges we ran into

A key challenge was working in a remote working environment which can hinder collaboration and teamwork. Our team managed to make use of effective digital tooling and maintain open lines of communication in order to overcome this.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of standing up a team who were new to each other and to the concept of Variable Recurring Payments, in order to create a solution to help customers with characteristics of vulnerability.

What we learned

We learned how to take an idea through stages of product development in a short time whilst working in a remote environment. It was important to utilise the strengths of each individual team member and collaborate effectively whilst working remotely.

What's next for Payit™ VRP Solution

Payit™ will utilise it's existing reach and explore NatWest's customer base to demonstrate the value of our VRP solution in a variety of use cases.
