Education Project Rooted

Inspiration: Our inspiration for this project came from the desire to promote awareness about the importance of native plants in Canada. By understanding and preserving these plants, we can help maintain biodiversity, support local wildlife and foster sustainable practices in our communities.

What it does: The project provides users with interactive map where they can click on different regions to learn about native plants in each area. It also offers sections on indoor gardening, seasonal plant information, projects to do for winter season, recipes using native plants, and a community space for sharing knowledge and tips. We also added game that you can explore around world and learn about their native plant and collect the HELLO WORLD character that starts with the name of the country

How we built it: We used HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create an engaging user interface.

Challenges: It was difficult to make the map interactive and gathering information on native plants and create content that is precise and educational.

Accomplishment: We made a platform that informs and engages the users. The interactive map also is a new feature for us to try.

What we learned: throughout the development process, we learned about front-end development, user experience design and the importance of presenting educational content and have it in interactive format as well as ecological significance in the community

What’s next: We want to expand the community section to include user-submitted post, add calender feature for tracking seasonal gardening activities and collaborating with a local environmental groups for live events and webinar

Side Quest (Mind Flip) Inspiration: We wanted to create a funny website that looked like it was out of the early 2000s.

What it does: "Answers" your questions with a coin flip.

Accomplishment: We recorded our own drum roll sound effect and added it to the web page.

Built with: HTML, CSS, Javascript
