Inspiration
Emily's amazing, superb, and awesome music playing. We want more people to be like Emily.
What it does
Myusiloc keeps you on track with your music practice without being overbearing. Intended to reset every day at midnight, you'll only have to practice a few songs once per day. The goal is consistency, not tiring sessions that will exhaust our users. Includes a leveling system that provides more difficult songs as you level up. It gets harder to progress through the levels as you go. Good luck!
How we built it
We started in Python, but later switched to JavaScript as it was more compatible. We also used CSS and HTML to make it a chrome extension.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge for us was receiving audio from the laptop microphone and sending the audio to our chrome extension. Instead of having just one person struggle at it, we all did research and worked together to figure it out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of having a product. Although there can always be improvements, we are very happy we ended up with something testable and somewhat usable.
What we learned
We learnt a lot of things, but we all agree that building a chrome extension that we could use in each of our browsers was a cool experience. It was a first for everyone on our team.
What's next for Myusiloc
We would like to improve our extension so that it can better monitor practice (possibly using a webcam) and make sure users aren't cheating it. Other nice developments would be to create a mobile version that we can use and have more instruments be compatible with Myusiloc.
