Inspiration

GlowMyState was inspired by people who find it difficult to continue tracking habits after experiencing failure — especially children and individuals with developmental or physical challenges.
We noticed that many existing apps either overcomplicate the process or unintentionally highlight failure, making users feel ashamed or discouraged.

We wanted to create an app that allows users to record habits in a light, emotionally safe way — where trying again feels natural, not embarrassing.
Our goal is for users to feel, “This is just how I like to record my progress,” and to be proud of their unique tracking style.

What it does

GlowMyState is a playful, intuitive habit tracker that uses floating bubbles to record daily progress.

  • Bubble-based interface to log daily progress or consciously skip a day without penalty
  • Customization with over 10 colors and icon types to express each day uniquely
  • Optional memo input for reflection, gratitude, or journaling
  • Separate Child Mode and Parent Mode secured by a PIN for safe supervision
  • Solo-friendly experience for adults who prefer a minimalist, soft UI
  • Animated onboarding flow that explains core functionality without requiring tutorials
  • Touch-friendly components with simplicity for neurodiverse and younger users
  • Optional AI Report that gently encourages users

The interface is designed to be friendly and inclusive — suitable for both children and adults without being overly childish or sterile.

How we built it

GlowMyState was brought to life through a cutting-edge development style: a deep collaboration between human creativity and Bolt’s AI capabilities.
Roughly 99% of the application — from UI and UX to icons and even localization — was generated using Bolt.new.

Our role shifted from traditional coders to what we call “Vibe Coders” or “AI Conductors.”
We didn’t write code; we guided the AI through carefully crafted prompts, always focused on the emotional experience we wanted to create.
Bolt provided a powerful and flexible foundation — and our human touch came in the final, crucial 1%.

We refined the AI-generated logic, removed unnecessary complexity, and ensured every element aligned with our core principle: creating a "non-shameful" habit-tracking experience.
This process allowed us to channel nearly all our energy into what truly matters — the user's emotional journey.

This project is a testament to how Human-AI collaboration can accelerate not just development speed, but empathy-driven design itself.

We focused on

  • Bubble animations that move gently, evoking a floating, positive atmosphere.
  • A modal-based UI for intuitive interaction with minimal instruction.
  • A secure PIN-protected Parent Mode for safe supervision.
  • Touch-friendly UI components designed with neurodiverse users in mind.
  • An animated onboarding flow to warmly support first-time users.

This approach empowered us to rapidly prototype, iterate, and fine-tune the user experience — all without writing a single line of traditional code.

Challenges we ran into

  • Implementing safe transitions and strict access between Parent Mode and Child Mode.
  • Ensuring that customization and flexibility didn’t lead to interface complexity.
  • Designing an interface that appeals to both children and adults without leaning too far in either direction.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a habit tracker that treats failure as a natural, non-shameful part of growth.
  • Designed a unique bubble interaction that makes daily tracking feel fun and light.
  • Created a secure environment where parents can support their child’s habit formation without invading their privacy.
  • Enabled gentle, encouraging experiences through inclusive design.

What we learned

  • Simplicity isn’t just about fewer features — it's about making the user feel safe and empowered.
  • Designing for neurodivergent users requires empathy, trial-and-error, and community insight.
  • Habit tracking doesn’t have to be rigid — soft, floating interactions can be just as powerful.
  • Prompt-based development can be a creative and inclusive way to build meaningful tools.

What’s next for GlowMyState

  • Add Dark Mode for visual comfort and accessibility.
  • Conduct feedback sessions with families and educators to improve the app's usability in real-life environments.
  • Expand multilingual support to reach more users globally.
  • Multi-device sync via accounts, enabling shared access between children, parents, and caregivers.
