Sophia, a 14yo grade 9 student, started off high school with good academic scores, A’s and B’s, and always turned in her homework on time. She started to miss assignments and her grades suffered after her parents decided to divorce. The amount of work to catch up became overwhelming, so she lost interest in school and started to skip classes. Sophia had opted-in and installed MySpace during orientation. When MySpace detected a pre-determined number of missed classes and assignments, it sent a non-intrusive notification for Sophia to open the app. MySpace welcomes Sophia with a friendly cartoon, and a limited selection of options, including a small set of questionnaires, tailored to bridge some gap from the missed assignments. This is customized to Sophia’s ability that allows her to easily complete and earn reward points. This also helps her restore confidence to reengage with her school. When Sophia feels overwhelmed, MySpace offers an option for her to stay calm (watch the cartoon sleep button) and to have a private outlet to share their thoughts (with the cartoon). MySpace is a supplementary tool that offers students a way to return to their academic journey without pressure, at their own pace, leveraging the power of AI.
