Inspiration We were inspired by the idea of bringing people together through curated, meaningful social experiences. While there are many event discovery platforms, most feel impersonal and cluttered. We wanted to build something that feels tailored to the individual — where users can find events that match their vibe, hosts can manage experiences with ease, and brands can connect directly with relevant audiences. The idea of creating a space that blends social discovery, hosting, and brand collaboration seamlessly gave birth to MySocials.

What it does MySocials is a web-based platform that connects three key personas: customers, event hosts, and brands. Customers can browse curated events in their area, RSVP to public or private events, and receive personalized recommendations based on their interests and location. Hosts can easily create and manage events, send invites, track RSVPs, and allow brand sponsorships for their events. Brands, in turn, can search for upcoming events that align with their target audience and submit collaboration requests to hosts. The platform makes social planning effortless, collaborative, and accessible.

How we built it We built MySocials using React 18 with TypeScript for type safety and modern component architecture. The platform leverages React Router for seamless navigation, Tailwind CSS for responsive design, and Lucide React for consistent iconography. We implemented a multi-role authentication system supporting customers, hosts, and brand partners with dedicated dashboards for each user type.

Challenges we ran into Creating intuitive interfaces for three distinct user types while maintaining design consistency was complex. Implementing advanced filtering and search functionality across events required careful state management. Balancing feature richness with performance optimization, especially for mobile users, presented ongoing challenges throughout development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We successfully created a fully responsive platform that seamlessly handles multiple user roles with distinct experiences. The event discovery engine with real-time filtering provides excellent user experience. Our brand collaboration hub creates a unique marketplace connecting sponsors with event hosts, setting MySocials apart from traditional event platforms.

What we learned We gained deep insights into multi-role application architecture and the importance of user-centered design. Working with complex state management across different user flows taught us valuable lessons about React patterns. We also learned how crucial responsive design is for event discovery platforms where mobile usage is predominant.

What's next for MySocials We plan to integrate real-time chat functionality for event coordination and add payment processing for ticketed events. Geographic-based event recommendations using location services will enhance discovery. We're also exploring AI-powered event matching to connect users with events that align with their interests and past attendance patterns.
