MySalonika

Inspiration

The inspiration for this lens is a scavenger hunt game that we were playing recently, but instead of finding the hidden items, the user is going to find what's the next local event in town.

What it does

MySalonika is a project that leverages Snapchat’s lenses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology to allow users to discover local events happening in a city. By using their device's camera, the app overlays information about events happening in real-time on top of their surroundings. Users can simply point their camera at a location and the app will display information about events happening there, including details such as the event name, time, and description. It can also provide directions and other relevant information to help users get to the event location. The goal of MySalonika is to provide a fun and interactive way for people to explore and discover local events, by combining the latest technology in AR and Snapchat’s lenses.

How we built it

We build it using Lens Studio, a powerful application designed to build augmented reality experiences for Snapchatters.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing this lens required a significant amount of time and resources. We had to prioritise and manage our time effectively to ensure that it was completed within the given timeframe.
Trying to get user's personal information such as name and birthday, to make it as personalised as possible.
Trying to use 3rd party APIs to make it as dynamic as possible.

What we learned

We learned that there are cool ways to make augmented reality funny and easy to use.

What's next for MySalonika

Make it as personalised as possible, by giving special gifts, coupons for each user.
Make it as dynamic as possible to show different message on different locations.
