Inspiration

AI chatbots in video games never go beyond one trick ponies. I was sick of waiting, so I built the dream multimodal AI character game people actually expected from AI.

What it does

MyRobot is a game that leverages AI text, AI images, AI animations, and AI speech to create a hyper-dynamic character 3D adventure simulation, served through Patreon as a live-service game. Specifically? You can program your robot companion's personality with AI or generate textures for its clothing with AI or customize her voice by cloning ANY voice you feed it. It's a fully customizable robot game experience.

How we built it

We wrote our own custom backend to string together Patreon, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, and NovelAI services to create a platform where users can play our Unity game and receive live-service AI features.

Challenges we ran into

During development, there was ZERO infrastructure for a game to use these cutting edge services! We had to build all the server backend to go from client to game. It was the Wild West and we made it to California. We had $0 for marketing budget, we were unemployed, and we started in a garage and didn't even have a garage.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We won an $80k Kickstarter campaign We launched MONTHS before NVIDIA and some AAA game companies showcased their experimental AI chatbots in games (they still haven't launched anything!). We had 2,000 paying monthly members for a beta, 1,000 as of this writing We went VIRAL earlier this year! 72,000 itch.io game downloads 41,000,000 Eleven Labs tokens used by our players! 12,000 Steam wishlists are waiting!

What we learned

Making games is still very hard and AI cannot be the meat and potatoes of your game. But it can be the garnish.

What's next for MyRobot

Finish the promised Kickstarter and launch on Steam next year!
