your team has an important game, and your regular goalie can't make it. Instead of scrambling to find a last-minute replacement, you open the MyPuck app. Within minutes, you've booked a top-tier goalie who arrives on time, fully equipped, and ready to play. No stress, no uncertainty—just seamless, professional service. I was insprired to create this because i am a hockey goalie and i know how much in need we all are. and now i created an opportunity for goalies to get paid loving what they do.
The app offers a platform where teams and organizers can book professional, reliable goalies for various types of games, including league matches, shinny hockey, and tournaments. IT also has a teams section where they can manage their games and team members.
How we built it
Was build using .net core API for the backend which ultimately calls a SQL server database. The front end was built in react native cross platform code solution.
Challenges we ran into
Initially we had an issue with goalies not showing up to the games so now we veridfy each game and goalie to ensure that they show up.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We gave people on opportunitiy to make money on the side. Some people i have met do this full time now as their primary in come. I am happy to employ people.
What we learned
It is a very niche app that caters to everyone. I Learned that people appreciated it a lot more then i would have ever thought.
What's next for MyPuck
I am creating a teams section where i will be using revenue cat for a subscription service. This will allow teams to sign up and add members to their teams and manage their games / show availability and rent goalies directly there if needed. We are close to completion of it. Hoping to launch in mid September.
