MyoMove started off as a project to simply unlock one's phone whenever they would remove it from their pocket, thus streamlining the process of phone authentication. Though, this idea grew over many iterations into a multi-featured gesture suite which can perform a variety of useful operations using the myo as a quasi remote control for an android phone.
Some of the features include full music playback controls including the ability to play/pause a track using a standard android intent which works with most music players. The application can also skip a track or replay a previous track, allowing a user to have full control over their media. Lastly, MyoMove can invoke Google Now voice search through a simple gesture. These combinations of useful features result in a target audience including all myo users because of its simplicity and practical function.
As a team, we are most proud of the custom movement engine which tracks a user's motion through applying various calculations with respect to the velocity and acceleration of a the users arm and their phone. This data is used to determine the overall direction of movement and can help the application estimate whether or not the user is performing a gesture which involves moving their phone from their pocket to their hand position. We are also proud of the overall structure of the application which allows for easy swapping of functions where new features can be added in an extremely efficient fashion.
