Inspiration

For FigBuild 2026, we were challenged to design a tool to track and explore some previously unmeasurable sensory experience. Our team is made up of a Biomedical Engineering and a Kinesiology student, so we naturally gravitated towards a physical health-oriented project inspired by technologies like the Oura ring and Whoop.

What it does

Myo is a speculative near-future wearable fitness tracker which can detect exactly how much effort your muscles output during workouts. Our design demo is the accompanying mobile app which allows users to view specific points of muscular fatigue, get real-time workout insights and feedback, adapt workout plans with AI, and more.

Challenges we ran into

Our team was only two members, which made it difficult to get all aspects of the challenge completed (in particular, the demo video got neglected for a majority of the worktime as we struggled to finish the design itself). Additionally, both members of the team are relatively new to Figma, and the virtual design process in general, leading to tons of workflow inefficiencies and backtracking.

What we learned

We both grew immensely in our understanding of the design process over the course of the challenge, gaining new perspective on the importance of standardization and consistency across a design. Using Figma Make for the first time was as exciting as it was educational, teaching us the ins and outs of prompting for specific design tweaks. More than anything, we learned how enjoyable and rewarding design can be and are looking forward to future opportunities.
