Inspiration
I have studied IBDP programme in which we had to write many articles. During this process, we weren't always able to get feedback and it wasn't easy to find example articles. Since reviews and sample works are a crucial part of the learning process, I wanted to create a platform where students can publish their work and get peer and teacher reviews. I believe this platform can help students who don't have access to feedback and/ or educational material.
What it does
Human All Too Human is a platform where high school students from all around the world can publish their articles, read other students' articles and give each other reviews. They can share their school teacher's feedback on their article to help their peers. This is a platform where students help each other through peer-review. Students can also get reviews by teachers using the platform.
How we built it
The platform is built on Django framework. It uses Django's SQL database. The backend language is python and HTML, CSS and Javascript are used for the front end. It doesn't have complex or advanced coding but it is quite user-friendly and runs smoothly.
Challenges we ran into
Although the coding is simple, I am a newbie and all the errors I got while building the platform was quite exhausting. Building models, forms, trying to stay coherent, trying to make the page look nice... It was tiring but definitely rewarding.
What's next for MyMagazine
As the user amount increases, I want to publish monthly magazines around a pre-determined theme. We might also get illustrations, drawings etc. from high schoolers to publish. I think writing/ drawing for an online magazine is a great extracurricular for high schoolers.
