Inspiration
Health data is very sensitive and requires more than just a database, it needs maximum security and needs to be tracked whenever it is tampered with, one of the ways to ensure this is achieved is implementing block-chain on our platform that is why we at MyLikita decided to upgrade our platform from Web2 to Web3
What it does
It is a platform for Hospitals to encrypt their paitents' medical information and store it on a blockchain network to ensure immunitability and data security giving the patients the power to control how their data is being used.
How we built it
We initially had this platform running on web2, we just implemented the web3 part of it and even bagged $10,000 from the NEAR Foundation to facilitate the transformation, while as well entering into the hackathon for the same purpose.
Challenges we ran into
Keeping health data on a public block-chain is never an option due to the nature of the data, so after series of brainstorming session, we decided that encrypting the data using a highly secured algorithm before storing it on the block-chain would help us solve this problem. Another challenge we ran into was not having a Rust developer in the core development team, one of our developers has experience with AssemblyScript, we had to scout for a Rust developer to overcome this challenge and have the smart contract developed
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It has always been a great concern to the management of the MyLikita platform, how to properly secure the patient information and how to leverage the advanced technologies to empower patients to hold the key to their medical information. I believe this is a great advancement towards to greater plan of putting the most sensitive part the entire solution on block-chain.
What we learned
We have learned to work better together as a team and always communicate the roadmap of the project to any new member of the team. Nothing is too difficult to do if you have never tried, no matter how difficult or impossible a feature might look, with the right team, it can always be achieved.
What's next for MyLikita
We want to onboard more hospitals, do more awareness for the patients and tell them how MyLikita handles their data. We also want to do more research and development to see how to better tailor the patients' block-chain experience and give them the maximum benefits.
