Inspiration

Dad is 90yr old. He has no interest in computers but he enjoys looking at family photos or historical pictures taken throughout his life. He's not ambulatory and he doesn't want to interact much with a computer. The largest growing population seg. in the US. are those greater than 90yr old!

What it does

Many people have computer but don't use them much. Tailored for the elderly and eldercare facilities this app utilizes voice commands to advance and rewind, slowdown or speed up the slideshow. We are targeting these people and making it easy for them to see their life history with very little computer interaction.

How we built it

Bolt.new ofcourse. React, supabase and Jscript. - Starting the project late on 6/27. I just had OpenAI O4-mini-high generate my first prompt for bolt.new. - I set my bar high! lots of commands, and verbal interactions.

Challenges we ran into

Speed and accuracy with verbal commands, UUID vs. bigint, Authentication validation, SMTP, and much to do with supabase. Project bloat! 12M tokens and 17hrs later I'm close but a massive step back as much of the functionality changed without warning. Some of it changed without me knowing it until later. 17M tokens and I'm back on track. Building a separate Authentication side app and then bring that in later.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of having this app as far along as it is in such short amount of time with as little as I know about modern programming techniques. I was an applications architect in the 90s with Windows 95. This project got me educated on the newer platforms and methodologies and coding languages.

What we learned

I learned the (current) limits of Bolt.new. I learned about supabase and React coding. I learned much about front end dev. and programing with AI as your assistant, coder-bee!

What's next for MyLifePhotos.ai

I would love to flush out some bugs and add robust authentication. Let use and read and load pictures located on the computer. So essentially, make a stand-alone client side supabase so people have control over their precious photo images and the App works when off-line. Then marketing and sales to large retirement centers.
