Inspiration

We were inspired to do the NTice Challenge Track #2 because all of us have an interest in healthcare and wanted to build a project in this area.

What it does

MyHealth Games is an app for people with dementia that contains 3 easy quick games the user can partake in. These games are meant to be cognitive stimulating - for instance having both numerical puzzles with our 2048 game, brain games which were inspired by the MOCA exam for people who have dementia, and audio diaries for users to record their day and have a safekeeping of what they did.

How we built it

We used Figma to design the visuals of the app, including screens, color schemes and prototyping. We used Android Studio with languages of Kotlin and Java to build the speech-to-text component used in the audio diary and for some brain games questions.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time using Android Studio to build our dev application. It was also the first time for team members using Figma and designing the screens in the limited time we have. We also based our findings on Google searches and what we learned from the NTice sponsor - it would be helpful to have user research from both caregivers and people with dementia. Also due to our limited time and our first time learning Android Studio and Kotlin, we weren't able to produce/replicate the app from our Figma designs onto there - but we do want to continue working on it in the future.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud we were able to learn a new technology with Android Studio and Kotlin and we're excited to keep learning about it. We also are happy to be able to design Figma screens in such a short amount of time while adhering to calming colors and simple UI for the person with dementia to be able to navigate it easily.
