MyEqual

Inspiration

I was inspired by thinking of the many schools in the US that don’t even have access to basic essentials for education, such as - books, resources, opportunities, etc. I think, we, as students who attend really good school districts fail to recognize how other schools are struggling, so this is how the project came to life.

What it does

It is basically an app where students can access resources, find out about opportunities, get college application tips and an online forum where they can exchange with other students.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

I wanted to create an app where it could be a one-stop for everything, so figuring out how to include sections that were useful was challenging.

What we learned

First and foremost, I learned that though some students may attend underprivileged districts, that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t also succeed. With many employee shortages and the percent of illiteracy increasing, it is important to make sure everyone gets a good education.

What's next for MyEqual

Hopefully making it into an app, using Java or Swift, and HTML, CSS, JavaScript for the UI.
