Inspiration

Our goal is to create a patient centered, personal electronic medical record system to keep track of all of the health information. Our inspiration stems from our recognition of how many patients see multiple providers and different facilities, but all of the different facilities have different pictures or profiles on the patient, making it hard to keep track of the true and updated information. Especially in elderly patients, it becomes impossible to keep track of long lists of medications and all the doctor visits. We propose that a good way to combat this is to create a organizational system where the patient and or care takers keep tracks of their own data (additional development would include the contributions of providers and methods of sending data over to other servers where systems of verifying whether the data is accurate would be needed since the patient input is subjective). In addition, this web-app is also able to calculate the risk percentage for certain diseases by comparing the patient data to an open-source dataset. The website will use machine learning to continuously evaluate your risk for certain diseases and will serve as a way of disease prevention. We plan to use this website to make keeping track of one's health less stressful to promote healthier lifestyles.

What it does

We wanted to design an elderly friendly portal that would carry electronic medical records of the user and keep track of their medications and diagnoses so that the user would have a single location where all their prescribed medications and times to intake as well, future appointments, as well as their health history records that would compare to a database and inform the user on how their accumulated diagnoses can tell which health conditions they run a higher risk of having

using HTML, CSS, Flask Python framework, Jupyter Notebooks, Figma

Challenges we ran into

accessing the user inputs that were saved in the database

Accomplishments that we're proud of

user interface design and we got some of our intended functions like user login/signup and the analysis of the external database of health conditions

What we learned

Back-end code with python using the Flask framework, mySQL database, UI /UX with Figma; data analysis with python, front-end with html and css

What's next for MyEMR

Accessing user-inputs and putting it into the algorithm that will calculate the risk of the patient for certain health conditions Adding the doctor as an editor to the patient's profile so that the doctor can directly input the medications prescribed and the diagnoses made for the patient
