A little bit about MyELCBeauty (Text Description)

The MyELCBeauty app is a completely voice activated application that allows users to login, browse for products, make online orders, book online or in person consulting appointments, and collect and review points, all using only their voice. The app also has the DiscoverTheBestYou program, a feature that allows users to subscribe to free monthly samples based on what they like. Along with the app, improvement to existing product packaging will also be made. Raised QR codes will be available on each product which can be felt by users and scanned using their phones. Once scanned, an audio clip will play from their phones describing the product name, company, size, price, and how to use it. Along with QR codes, all new users that sign up on the myELCBeauty app will get a free bottle opener that can assist users in opening all types of products.

Through this solution, The main concern regarding lack of accessibility is addressed as the entire beauty experience for visually impaired users or those with a motor skills disability is improved and made enjoyable through the development of a completely voice activated app. Through the app, users are able to guide their own shopping experience using their voice, while celebrating their uniqueness and exploring their own beauty journey through increased accessibility and feasibility of beauty products and tools.

Changes to Physical Packaging:

• Raised QR codes are added to product packaging that can be felt by users and scanned, after which audio is played from the user’s device regarding information about the specific product.
• After listening to the audio, the user will also be asked if they would like to place an order for the product, and if they respond with “Yes”, the user is guided to the checkout page, where they can finish placing their order using their voice based on the guided voice prompts.

Additional Tools:

• All new users that sign up on the MyELCBeauty app will receive 1 free bottle opener tool that can be used to open and access various products.
