MyDev

Inspiration

Since I was a teen I always noticed the little things in someone's behavior and I was disappointed by rude manners. So along with my love for Sci-Fi genre and recent events, I wanted to bring to life a futuristic touch to our daily routine by the use of a filter of a robot, MyDev. The name MyDev stands for my development, meaning than its main course is to urge people to be more kind and acceptive of others, to value simple things in their lives, to take action against injustice, to love themselves, and to be more supportive.

What it does.

Using world-tracking on the back camera MyDev robot is displayed with a unique mantra floating upon it each time that can be changed by tapping the face of the robot. It's also reading out loud the current mantra with a cute robotic voice. It includes a LUT filter to bring a more Sci-fi look to life as well as an audio analyzer for RGB shift shader that will match for someone who wants to discuss recent issues.

How I built it

It was built with SparkAR and Blender.

Challenges I ran into

The bigger challenge was to make the robot and the mantras to look like a single realistic object. The patch editor gave the touch I wanted it to have as a floating 3d mantra.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm really satisfied that I accomplished to make a meaningful filter for a good cause. I hope it really makes people feel more optimistic and to remind them that they are loved and cared for.

What I learned

I realized that you can use such an interactive tool to bring awareness about critical issues. Since it was my first time creating such a filter I learned how to use world-tracking, how to reduce 3d objects, and how to connect them as a single looking object.

What's next for MyDev

I aspire that some activists would like to use my filter to discuss injustices and to bring perception and apprehension about large matters that occupy our modern life. I think that such an interactive experience would attract more people to join.
