Submission Category: Best Mental Health Innovation

I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder 3 years ago and tried numerous treatments, including various antidepressants, psychotherapy, rTMS, and CBT. CBT was by far the most effective in my case, as well as the cheapest and most convenient method. I want to recreate the CBT experience for iOS (and later Android) to help other people suffering from a mood or anxiety disorder manage their symptoms more effectively.

CBT is a new method of psychotherapy which has been shown to be at least as effective as antidepressants. One core tool of CBT is the Thought Record, which currently only exists on paper. myCBT turns the Thought Record into a guided, interactive app with the ability to chart the user's results over time to find patterns (e.g. I am more likely to feel depressed in the winter, I am more likely to feel anxious during exams, etc.). The user can review their history on their own or choose to email a generated report to their healthcare professional.

The target user is someone who has been diagnosed with a mental disorder who is currently receiving treatment for their condition, such as CBT, Mindfulness, or antidepressants. It would be a more convenient and feature rich alternative to paper Thought Records. Users unfamiliar with CBT will find it relatively easy to learn how to use because it will be guided with examples and balloon tips. Anyone could benefit from this app, but it would be most beneficial to people suffering from a mood or anxiety disorder.
