MyBusiness Toolbox

MyBusiness Toolbox (http://www.backtowork.us/mybusinesstoolbox) is an iOS (iPhone and iPad) app that helps small business owners find helpful information and resources related to growing (or starting) their business. It is part of the broader BackToWork.us (http://www.backtowork.us/) website. The app helps small business owners find articles, data, events, programs, services, stories, tools, funding sources, license information, and helpful sites related to owning a small business (utilizes the BusinessUSA Resource Access API http://business.usa.gov/apis and SBA API http://www.sba.gov/api). In order to make searching by state easy it uses the FIPS State Codes list (https://explore.data.gov/Geography-and-Environment/FIPS-State-Codes/7xpc-3ata). It also helps business owners expand their export efforts by providing an easy to use interface to search the Unverified Person List (https://explore.data.gov/Foreign-Commerce-and-Aid/Unverifed-List-of-Foreign-Persons-Red-Flagged-for-/kk73-as2u) and Denied Persons List (https://explore.data.gov/Foreign-Commerce-and-Aid/Denied-Persons-List-with-Denied-US-Export-Privileg/5kvc-rp2e). This functionality is implemented in order to support the President's National Export Initiative (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/executive-order-national-export-initiative). Furthermore, the app features job search functionality with special features tailored to helping veterans and youth find jobs. It lets veterans search via their military occupation code in order to help them find jobs that make use of the skills they developed while serving our country. The app searches over the SummerJobs+ 2012 job bank (http://www.dol.gov/summerjobs/) and the National Resource Directory's Veterans Job Bank (https://www.nationalresourcedirectory.gov/home/veterans_job_bank). The app (version 1.01 currently pending App store approval) also explicitly supports Apple's VoiceOver technology in order to make the interface accessible to citizens with a visual impairment.
