Inspiration

It can be difficult to feel productive learning/working remotely while still limiting your screen time. Many of us attend classes, collaborate on problem sets, and attend club meetings in a remote setting, which leads to screen fatigue.

What it does

When you decide to take a break from using your computer screen and learn/do work offline, simply sign in to mybrary with your Google account to start studying. mybrary will keep track of how long you spend studying and keep you accountable by detecting whether you are active on the site. Once your study session is over, click off the mybrary tab, and you'll be given a new book in your library whose length varies depending on how long you spend studying.

How we built it

This website was built with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. After a conversation about the difficulty of productivity in the age of online learning, it was easy to miss the environment of our good, reliable college libraries. We initially brainstormed and conceptualized our idea using Figma, created image assets, and worked collectively on the code on Repl.

Challenges we ran into

For all of us, this was our first hackathon. While extremely exciting, this experience, since it was remote, was very new to us. Sometimes, it could be difficult to keep communication current and figure out exactly how to divide tasks. Ultimately, however, we found a rhythm and were able to learn, design, and code together to create a project that was truly collaborative!
