Inspiration
If there’s one feeling every human needs and loves, it’s to feel understood. Along with this need comes a desire to understand ourselves, and fashion is a huge part of who we are -- apart of our personalities. We love feeling like we belong to a community. Therefore, we wanted to create a shopping experience that not only gives the best personalized recommendations, but discovers your Aritzia style and curates your exclusive #AritziaCommunity.
What it does
The #MyAritziaType feature of the web app/mobile app is an upgrade to Aritzia's current recommendation system. The quiz analyzes a person's fashion aesthetic and gives hyperpersonalized recommendations based on their answers, creating a customized profile. Within one's customized profile page, customers will see relevant stats about themselves that will enhance their online shopping experience (i.e. personalized style break-down; exclusive deals for those apart of your #MyAritziaType; celebs and characters also #MyAritziaType).
Challenges we ran into
As beginners with limited coding experience, we found it challenging to code the quiz and align it with Aritzia's website aesthetic. We also found it difficult to use Figma for the first time. Lastly, while brainstorming our ideas, it was difficult to narrow down on one idea since we had several different ones.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully coded the #MyAritziaType quiz prototype by learning how to code in HTML. In the limited time given to us, we were able to design multiple possible fashion aesthetics on Figma to accurately show how the answers of the quiz can be used to personalize the experience of the user.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate as a team on ideas and divide the workload to make the best use of our time and resources. Also, we learned how to code in a language we had little to no experience using YouTube, Google and with the help of mentors.
What's next for #MyAritziaType
We can use the personalized experience to have targeted ads depending on the user's style and interests in the future. This can enable us to turn casual users into loyal customers.
