Inspiration
-> The opening speech of the hackathon event, a brief customer survey we did with the Uber guys out here and obviously our own personal user experience in India and US. Also, the great concept of IOT (Internet of Things).
Uber is having challenges capturing the market. With so many competitors (especially in India) Uber could capture only 30-40% of the market. We need to come up with a technology that changes the business paradigm.. A Vision.. And that's our project: 'My Uber Car'
What it does
-> This is a feature to be integrated with Uber App.We are providing controls to the user to program the car they need.
Step 1: While a user books a car, he can set-up his needs (music, AC level, Luggage Capacity, Color, Style, Multiple-hops). Step 2: This whole data goes to the Uber server. Step 3: Uber server MAY select a car based on this need. Uber also and sends this customization data all the way to the car.All the devices in the car (radio system, ac system, GPS system etc.) are connected over internet and they get programmed dynamically. Step 4: While on the ride, user can program the music, temperature level etc. dynamically
How we built it
-> We just built a simple mock-up prototype using HTML, angularjs, nodejs. But this will be a very simple and easily implementable feature in the main Uber App
Challenges we ran into
-> Loads of technical issues related to playing music through angular etc. But that's okay.. It's just a prototype :)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-> This idea is formed right here and instead of no app knowledge we came up with a mock-up. This idea is a paradigm shift that will change the riding experience for users and cab business for Uber exponentially.
What we learned
-> We should brainstorm as a team.We should have a short survey with the intended audience before we start our project. This increases the worth of the effort.
What's next for My Uber Car
-> Integrate it with the Uber code and present a demo to the Uber team soon.
