Inspiration

I was inspired to make this blog because of my passion for baking and my interest in displaying my work for the others to see. I have been baking since I was around 6 years old, and this hobby of mine has allowed me to really explore my creative side by experimenting with different flavors and baked goodies. I created this website in order to be able to celebrate my hard work and to exhibit my skills for my viewers, as well as to be able to be be inspired by other youth bakers with recipes to share!

What it does

On my blog, I have shared numerous recipes for different types of baked goods for viewers to look at and try out a-on tier own at home. My intention is to inspire the youth to try out home-baking and to bake delicious items in their own kitchen. I also created a form where viewers can share their own recipes which I can then publish on my website for everyone to try out. I wish to create a close community of youth bakers who can bond over their passion for baking and inspire each other to bake more!

How we built it

I built My Sweet Baker using HTML and CSS, and Repl.it.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges that I ran into included not being able to figure out how to write some of the HTML tags at times and not getting my code to run the way I wanted it to. At various points of time, I would get very furious with the wya my page looked because the structure of the site did not look as planned. However, i would slowly work the problems out by going through the code step by step, finding my errors and fixing them. Because I worked on the website by myself, I had some trouble getting everything done fast enough. I spent a lot of time finding the recipes online and coming up with a plan on what I wanted to share on my blog.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of the overall layout of my blog and how it looks. I love the way everything is arranged on my website and the looks part of it. I am also very proud of the purpose of my website. I finally got the chance to find a way to display my work to others as baking has been one of my biggest hobbies for the longest time and I take a lot of pride in the baked goods that I make!

What we learned

I learned how to make a website for the first time during this hackathon. O had never made one before and after doing a lot of research and learning a lot of new tags which I didn't know before, I found a way to make a final project which implemented everything I had learned. I also learned how to effectively re-use tags and make functions that could be used in various way.

What's next for My Sweet Baker – Blog page

Next up, I wish to add more recipes to my blog, as well as different types of baked goods such as pies and cupcakes. I can't wait to also receive recipes from other youth bakers which I can then create an additional tab for, adding all of those shared recipes on there. I will implement these features as well as more graphics to make my website as engaging and useful to bakers as possible! I can't wait to see what else there is to come!
