Inspiration We created MySOS Vault after learning that:
1 in 3 women experience violence globally (WHO)
80% of stalking victims lack organized evidence (NSVR)
Existing "panic button" apps don’t preserve court-admissible proof
Our goal: Turn smartphones into proactive evidence lockers—because safety shouldn’t depend on tech skills.
What It Does MySOS Vault is a digital safety system that:
Secures Evidence: Users upload threats (texts, photos, videos) with auto-timestamps/location.
Structures Cases: AI generates police-ready timelines (e.g., "Incident #3: July 12, 2:30PM – Threatening voicemail").
Auto-Alerts Authorities: If the user misses a check-in, the system sends:
Encrypted evidence package
Pre-filled legal forms (restraining orders)
Last known location
For Law Enforcement: Dedicated portal to access organized case files.
How We Built It Frontend: Bolt.new (prioritized panic-friendly UI – big red SOS button, minimal taps)
Backend:
Supabase (End-to-end encrypted evidence storage – Startup Challenge)
Twilio (SMS alerts to contacts/911)
Netlify (Police dashboard – Deploy Challenge)
AI: GPT-4 to auto-summarize evidence into procedural timelines.
Key Integration:
Dead Man’s Switch: Cron jobs verify check-ins; failure triggers evidence release.
Challenges We Faced False Alarms: Balanced sensitivity with reliability (added 2FA confirmation for alerts).
Legal Variability: Police evidence standards differ by region (built customizable report templates).
Encryption UX: Secured data without complicating emergency access (used Shamir’s Secret Sharing).
Accomplishments We’re Proud Of ✅ Partnered with a local women’s shelter during development (real user testing). ✅ 48-hour prototype with core functionality (Bolt’s speed was critical). ✅ Won "Best Social Impact" at [X Hackathon] – validation from judges.
What We Learned Survivor Insights:
"1-tap simplicity" > features (panic situations demand zero thinking).
Timestamps prove patterns better than memory.
Police Needs:
Structured timelines > raw data dumps.
Pre-filled forms reduce bureaucratic delays.
What’s Next Live Audio Recording: Background mode to capture threats hands-free.
911 Integration: Direct API links to emergency dispatch systems.
Anonymous Threat Mapping: Crowdsourced danger zones (e.g., "This park has frequent stalkers").
Monetization:
Premium Tier ($9.99/mo): Advanced analytics for legal teams.
Corporate Partnerships: Employee safety programs.
Hackathon-Specific Callout "We leveraged Bolt’s no-code flexibility to build fast while ensuring robust security—critical for life-or-death tools."
