Inspiration
The inspiration for this project stemmed from a desire to create a sustainable solution that promotes community-driven fashion. I wanted to provide a platform where people can swap clothes, reducing waste and fostering a sense of shared values around sustainability.
What it does
The app allows users to browse and filter swap listings by city. It also allows users to manage swap offers and view swap stats.
How I built it
I used React as the core framework, powered by Vite for fast build times. Tailwind CSS was employed to ensure a clean and responsive design.
Challenges I ran into
One of the primary challenges was designing the frontend UI to effectively simulate a fully functional application within the time constraints of the hackathon. Additionally, optimizing the mockup's performance while maintaining visual consistency across different devices posed a significant challenge.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud of achieving a clean, responsive design that adapted well to various screen sizes, creating an interactive experience within a limited timeframe.
What I learned
I learned how to balance design aesthetics with performance, particularly in creating responsive and interactive UIs under time pressure. The experience also deepened my understanding of managing state and context in a React application.
What's next for my sister's closet
Next, I plan to build out the backend, add wishlist functionality, and add integrated messaging.
