Inspiration
The truth is, running and managing a club is hard! It takes a lot of planning, meetings, and everyone's help to connect a bunch of moving parts and put on an event for the community. And oftentimes, registered student organizations (RSOs) will use a Google Drive to store logistical information and workspaces due to it being free and easy to use, especially for smaller RSOs. However, despite its pros, it is easy to get lost due to the endless branching folders, where seeking out a specific file can be quite the chore and confusing. This problem is what led our team to come up with a solution! In fact, this problem is personal to some of us, who are officers for an RSO and have experienced the faults of Google Drive.
What it does
MyRso.club is a web application that provides a workspace and logistics management for RSOs. It is built on top of Google Drive and refines the clunky maze of files and folders by providing a visual, customizable, and clear interface. Each path and workspace of MyRso.club is a representation of a branching set of folders from Google Drive.
How we built it
We used Claude, Grok, and Cursor. We also had to set up the Google Cloud API to link it to our Google Drive.
Challenges we ran into
We had a hard time setting up the API and getting the application linked to our Google Drive folder. We also had a hard time setting up the shared workspace and GitHub.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We came up with a cool idea that attempts to solve a real-world problem. We are proud to be able to work and come up with awesome ideas as a team.
What we learned
We learned how the early stages of a project work, such as brainstorming, creating a wireframe, picking an api, and creating the project workspace.
What's next for My RSO.club
We will continue working on this because we want to refine the features and possibly add more features.
