Inspiration
At DevOne Hackathon 2025, the theme “Build Your Developer Portfolio” deeply resonated with me. I wanted to go beyond a typical portfolio and create something that truly reflected my identity — blending creativity, personality, and functionality.
Instead of just learning about portfolio design, I decided to build one that’s anime-themed, terminal-inspired, and uniquely mine.
What it does
The project is a terminal-based anime-themed portfolio website that showcases my work, skills, and experience in an interactive and engaging way.
Users can navigate through the portfolio using terminal commands (like help, skills, or projects), or simply use the UI buttons. It features:
Home, Projects, Skills, Achievements, and Contact sections
Dual light and dark themes
Smooth animations and sound effects
A responsive terminal interface that enhances user engagement
How we built it:
I built this portfolio using:
- React.js for the frontend
- CSS and Anime.js for animations and effects
- Custom assets (graphics, sounds, and theme) designed entirely from scratch
The terminal logic was implemented using conditional rendering and dynamic input handling to simulate real command-line interactions.
Challenges we ran into:
Getting the terminal interface to work seamlessly with page navigation was tricky.
Balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality required multiple design iterations.
Fine-tuning animations, transitions, and responsiveness for different devices took patience and experimentation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
Designed and built a complete, functional portfolio from scratch — both visually and technically. Created a fully interactive UI with a custom-built terminal experience. Developed a distinct personal brand that combines creativity with professionalism.
What we learned:
This project taught me:
- How UI/UX principles and frontend design can elevate storytelling in development.
- The importance of patience, iteration, and polish when creating user-centric designs.
- How to merge aesthetic creativity with technical execution, even outside my comfort zone as a primarily backend/ML developer.
