I have suffered from a condition called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) for over 14 years. I discovered that tracking my symptoms on paper or on existing applications was very difficult. I had to take matters into my own hands. To learn more about ME/CFS, please read my blog:

What it does

I created My Journal to help people such as myself suffering from a chronic condition to track day to day symptoms and vital signs. My Journals reports can be used to support disability claims, but also to provide historical trends of the patients health condition. My Journal can be used on a iPhone/iPad, but the web version will work in any modern browser. Minimizes manual data entry to help patient population suffering from significant mobility issues (even for typing and clicking).

How I built it

My iOS app is built in Apple xcode and is written in swift. The backend was created on the LAMP stack.

Challenges I ran into

Given this was my first solo iOS project, I had to do quite a bit of research to learn the APIs required to build my app.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I have created an app that I believe will be able to help people like myself.

What I learned

I learned how to develop apps for iOS devices. I also learned about the nuances of chronic illness by speaking with doctors and with other patients afflicted with my condition.

What's next for My Journal for iOS

I hope to be able to finish My Journal and to share it with patients suffering from chronic illnesses that require detailed tracking.
