Inspiration

As a photographer who has always been drawn to the energy of musicians, especially jazz and blues, I wanted to explore how my own music could take visual form. The idea of a surreal blues jazz group felt like the perfect way to merge sound, imagination, and my love for capturing musical moments.

What it does

The project brings my original music to life through an imaginary band created entirely with AI tools. In 30 seconds, it builds a small cinematic world where sound becomes character, motion, and mood.

How we built it

I composed the musical idea first, then used AI image and video tools to design the surreal musicians. I shaped their look, movement, and presence around the rhythm of the track. Editing, timing, and color choices helped give the group a unified feel. Every frame was guided by the pulse of the music.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was translating emotion into characters that exist only in imagination. Balancing realism with surrealism required careful tuning. Keeping everything expressive inside such a short format also demanded precise timing and many iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I managed to create a full musical world in under 30 seconds. The characters feel alive, the rhythm flows visually, and the music and imagery merge naturally. It captures the essence of what inspires me as a photographer and creator.

What we learned

I learned how to let music guide the visual process, and how AI can help translate mood into motion. I discovered new ways to shape emotion through color, pace, and character design.

What's next for My Jam Gang

I plan to expand this imaginary band into a series of short musical moments, each exploring a different tone or instrument. My goal is to build a growing surreal ensemble that visually performs my music in new and unexpected ways.
